Course Overview
|
A 5 day course designed for students to experience learning at University and develop their knowledge and application of science and maths through completion of robotics challenges.
This course is for Aimhigher students and is fully funded by HEFCE and Imperial College
Applications are now open online via this website. They will be considered after the deadline of 30th April 2010. |

Course Aims
|
Students will:
- Work in teams with participants from other schools, and with their undergraduate mentor
- Develop their team working, communication and presentation skills
- Gain an insight into learning within a University setting
During the workshops, student teams will design and build robotic devices, covering the following topics:
- gearing and forces
- robotic platform and parts assembly
- programming hardware and software options
- sequencing and writing
- remote control devices and programmes, and
- autonomous programming with sensors.

Pre-requisites
|
For Year 9, 10 & 11 *Aimhigher students with an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects.
*Aimhigher denotes that funding is designated to support students who are able and underachieving or who may be at a disadvantage which could potentially have a negative effect on achievement. |
