Course Overview
|
Third year Imperial College mathematics students volunteer to produce mathematical topic presentations, receive science communication skills training, and present their topics to local schools and students. Recent topics have included: 'Chaos and Fractals', 'Disease Modelling', 'The 3-body problem' and 'Numbered Squares and Fermat's Last Theorem'. The sessions are in a presentation/demonstration style developed to foster an interest in mathematics in school by showing how the subject applies to real-life situations. Local schools are invited to book sessions, which normally take place on Wednesday afternoons for 30-45 minutes. |
